Horseback Riding LessonsThere are many physical and mental benefits to horseback riding. It is an aerobic activity, and it also helps stretch, tone, and strengthen the muscles throughout your body. Horseback riding greatly improves posture and balance, and teaches body awareness and muscle isolation.

Working together in total harmony with an animal with as much presence and power as the horse helps to build self discipline and self confidence.
At Flying Hearts Farm, you will learn more than just how to ride. You will learn responsibility, compassion, and to care for your mount with the utmost respect and consideration for their wellbeing at all times.
Lessons are English (dressage based) and teach a solid, correct foundation. Riders may also choose to learn how to jump as they progress. Riders interested in showing will have the opportunity to do so.

Lessons are $35 for one hour and are for ages 9 and up - adults are welcome, too! Beginners will learn to groom, tack, and untack their horse during that hour and will have approximately 30 minutes in the saddle. More experienced riders will be expected to arrive 30 minutes before their lesson and stay 30 minutes after to care for their horse. This is to provide you with a full hour of ride time. Parents are welcome to drop their child off for the lesson, or stay and watch. Beginners may ride in a well fitting bike helmet, jeans, and sturdy boots with a heel. Within the first month riders will be expected to purchase an ASTM approved riding helmet, paddock boots, chaps, and riding gloves.
Children ages 5-8 may come for a 30 minute grooming and/or riding session for $20. Parents must stay for this.
Lessons run throughout the year. Please be aware that during weather which creates bad footing or during rain, we may not be able to ride - lessons will continue and we will cover many topics on general horsemanship and natural care of the horse. Examples of topics covered are ground driving, lunging, equine nutrition and bodywork, hoof care, grooming for horse shows (braiding, clipping, etc), learning parts of the horse, conformation, emergency care, etc...
